Halifax Stanfield International Airport was left without power after an Air Canada plane hit power lines in the first few minutes of Sunday.

Flight 624 from Toronto arrived at Halifax just after midnight. The Airbus A320, registered C-FTPJ, exited the runway after landing. Power was knocked out of the airport's terminal when the plane hit a power line.

The aircraft sustained wing and nose damage. One of the engines was ripped off. All passengers safely evacuated and were taken to a hangar.

The cause is currently unknown, but weather conditions were poor at the time of the incident.
