Almost a week after obtaining a certification from the DOT, Eastern Air Lines announced that it passes all requirements for an air carrier certification for the FAA.

The Department of Transportation awarded Eastern with a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity on April 28. The DOT issued an Order To Show Cause on April 20.

The carrier's proving flights began on April 22. Eastern's single 737, registered N276EA, flew to San Juan, Dallas-Love Field, Columbus, and other cities. On Tuesday night, Eastern Air Lines announced that it had passed all the requirements for Part 121 Air Carrier Certification from the FAA.

Eastern's first flight is planned for May 30. Their 737 will operate an Honor Flight for World War II and Korean War veterans. Baltimore is currently scheduled to be the first city to receive an Eastern Air Lines passenger flight.
