An Alaska Airlines flight was forced to return to Seattle after a worker was trapped in the cargo hold.

Shortly after Flight 448, took off on Monday morning, passengers reported screaming and banging above the cargo hold area. Flight 448 was operated by a Boeing 737-900 and was bound for Los Angeles before being diverted. The pilot declared an emergency.

The aircraft landed at 3pm. Police and fire officers were on the scene. The ramp worker appeared fine, but was transported to a hospital anyway. He said he had fallen asleep.

Both the airline and the airport are investigating.
